Join us live for our 3 Plenary Sessions which will feature traditional content such as Registry reports, the Presidential Address, and our Awards Presentations, as well as research from the highest scoring abstracts submitted to the meeting. We also have some special invited talks planned for these sessions.
Wednesday Opening Plenary Session
ISHLT will honor one or our Past Presidents, Professor John Wallwork, with the Lifetime Achievement Award and the audience will be entertained by his humor and stories of his life and achievements.
Friday Plenary Session
Countdown to Teamwork - Colonel Mike Mullane, a U.S. astronaut, will share tales from his incredible experiences soaring in space aboard three missions -- after completing more than 100 combat missions in Vietnam. Colonel Mullane, an inductee into the International Space Hall of Fame, is the author of several books, including Riding Rockets: The Outrageous Tales of a Space Shuttle Astronaut. He’s also an avid mountain climber and, since turning 60, has summited Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa, Mt. Ranier in the U.S. and dozens of other mountains.
Transplant from Every Angle - Susan Hou, MD, a transplant nephrologist and researcher, will share her extraordinary perspective as a living donor, a lung and kidney recipient and a provider. This riveting conversation with Dr. Hou will offer a unique look at transplantation as she shares her journey down each path. Hou, who was a Professor of Medicine at Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine, also started a free medical clinic in the Bolivian rainforest.
Saturday Plenary Session
The final Plenary Session features a review of the most noteworthy Basic and Translational Science presented at the meeting, a review of the most noteworthy Clinical Science presented at the meeting, and the annual President’s Debate focused this year on Resource Limits: It’s Time to Abandon Retransplantation
